Local Authority Attendance Procedures - Please Read
Thu 14 Mar 2024Reminders
Following our termly meeting with the Attendance and Welfare Service, a few points were raised with the school with regards to attendance. These being:-
- If your child attends a Doctors/Dentist/Hospital and or any other appointment during the school day, please can you provide us with a copy of the appointment card/letter/email and or allow us to see the text message, which we will note.
- If the appointment is during the school day please be aware that your child should be in school prior to the appointment and return afterward the appointment has finished.
- For those children who are swimming, if your child is unable to swim due to illness or other reason, they still need to be in school for morning registration. If pupils are arriving when the swimmers are returning they will be marked as an unauthorised absence for that morning.
- Children attending external examinations such as Ballet/Music exams need to provide evidence of time and venue or otherwise absence will be classed as unauthorised.
The school will be reviewed again in the Summer term and the above bullet points will be looked at carefully. Parents/Carers not adhering to the local authority guidance may be contacted by the Attendance and Welfare Service.
Thank you for your continued cooperation and understanding in these matters

World Book Day Thank you
Thu 07 Mar 2024I would like to say a huge thank you to all of you for the huge effort you gave towards World book day. It was so lovely today to see all of the children dressed up as their favourite characters. The effort for our whole school art task of designing a paper plate as a book character was incredible and it was great to see lots of you in the hall tonight discussing the characters with your children. I have attached a few photos of the plates. It was a great success today and promoted our reading for pleasure aim for this year

Free School Meals Campaign - Please read
Tue 05 Mar 2024Please read the attached information about Free School Meals.
It is important that parents/carers apply for a Free School Meal, even if their child(ren) receive a Universal Primary Free School Meal (currently being rolled out ) as this will affect their possible entitlement to a Schools Essential Grant for items such as uniform, kit and stationery.
All schools across Wales will then be entitled to additional funding to provide education and support these children. If eligible families don’t apply for a free school meal through the council it will affect the amount of funding from Welsh Government that the schools receive, meaning the school has less money than it is entitled to in order to provide education and support to your children.
If you think your child may be entitled to a Free School Meal, even if your child is in receipt of a meal under this new scheme, please complete the online application form on the Council’s website Free School Meals or ask the main school office for a paper copy, which we can then scan for you.
