Reading books and summer reading challenges
Please can we ask that all reading books and reading journals are returned to school next week. We would like to audit our books and all reading journals will be passed on to the children's next teacher.
We would still like to encourage all our children to read over the summer holidays, to encourage this all pupils will be bringing home a reading bingo challenge sheet tonight. The bingo challenge asks children to read a selection of books over the summer holidays and note the title and the date. Any completed sheets can be brought back in September and the children will receive a reading challenge certificate.
As a school we have also signed up for the free reading challenge via the Fonetti platform. This app encourages children to read over the summer holidays with games, quizzes and leader boards. The 4 winning schools from the leader boards will be awarded with a fully funded day trip to London for an awards ceremony hosted by Clare Balding CBE.
