Holiday Free School Meal Provision
Thu 06 Jul 2023Holiday Free School Meal ProvisionHoliday provision for learners who are eligible for free school meals was introduced in response to the COVID-19 pandemic as a form of time-limited support to help families. While there have been several temporary continuations of the scheme, Welsh Government have confirmed on 28th June 2023 that despite fully exploring options for funding a further extension, it has not been possible due to funding constraints. The most recent extension to the end of May half term was the last. There will be no further extension to cover the summer holiday period or beyond.Should you need any further information, please see the links below.Get help with the cost of living | GOV.WALES - This page is regularly updated and provides information on possible sources of financial support, including our Discretionary Assistance Fund for people experiencing extreme financial pressures. Here to help with the cost of living | GOV.WALES - This campaign seeks to encourage people to contact Advicelink Cymru - Citizens Advice for free impartial advice on maximising their incomes, including accessing any financial support.Families might also be interested in the School Holiday Enrichment Programme (SHEP) which takes place in some schools. This scheme provides healthy meals, food and nutrition education, physical activity and enrichment sessions to children in areas of socio-economic disadvantage during the school holidays. The programme is promoted to children and families under the ‘Food and Fun’ brand identity. Thu 22 Jun 2023Classes 2023-2024
Next academic year will see some changes to our class setting. We have tried really hard to maintain single year group teaching over the last few years but, with the financial constraints of the new budget we will not be able to do this for the next academic year.
For the academic year 2023-2024 our classes will be arranged as;
Nursery
Reception
Reception
Year 1
Year 1 / 2
Year 2
Year 3
Year 3
Year 4
Year 4 / 5
Year 5
Year 5
Year 6
Year 6
Where we have mixed year groups, planning will take place between both year groups to ensure all pupils receive the same opportunities, experiences and challenge.
All pupils progress is robustly monitored by SLT on a termly basis to ensure expected progress is being made by all pupils.
Where year groups are split, this will be done based on age. Your child’s class for next year will be communicated to you on your child’s report which will be sent home on Friday 14th July.
Thank you very much

Personalised Assessments
Tue 23 May 2023We have had a few enquiries about the personalised assessments that will be carried out between the 7th and 20th June.
We have updated our school website with information surrounding these assessments.
This can be found on https://www.pontyclunprimary.org.uk/personalised-assessments/
As these personalised assessments are now adaptive and online, we do not have past papers that are in the same format as those that our children will be taking this year. However, we have uploaded past papers of the Welsh Government National Tests which the new, adaptive online personalised assessments have replaced for your perusal.
