The Reception children enjoyed their trip to Cefn Mably this week and the Year 1 children enjoyed their trip to the Brecon Mountain Railway, they actually saw the big man himself!
Thank you to all the parents who brought their children to the PTA Christmas party with Santa yesterday it was a great success!

Thank you to all the parents who came and supported the PTA Christmas fayre yesterday it was a big success!
Well done to the Year 5 and 6 pupils who played rugby this week. They had an enjoyable day using good skills and teamwork throughout the day. The children even had a chance to meet the women’s Barbarian team.
Also, well done to the Year 6 pupils who went to the football tournament final this week. They played really well and thoroughly enjoyed the day.

Well done to the Year 4 football team! They played in the tournament for the first time this week and had mainly draws and wins. They worked so hard and really enjoyed the experience.
Also, well done to the Year 6 pupils for taking part in the tournament, they won all their matches and will take part in the final next Thursday. Good luck to you all!
This week Year 4 children made recycled decorations using plastic bottles for the Pontyclun Community ‘Trashmas tree.’ The tree looks great, have a look when you’re passing.
Year 3 children have been asked to take part in a colouring competition for Tesco. Keep a look out in our local Tesco for their colourful creations.

It has been a very busy week at Pontyclun Primary. As a whole school we have been learning about Remembrance Day, World Kindness Day and today we have been celebrating Children in Need. The children have been busy taking part in lots of exciting activities and have had their own back on the staff today!
Thank you all for your clothing donations for ‘Rags to Riches.’ The bags were collected and weighed today and we made £152 for the school.
The Parent Council have mentioned that a few parents are having a pre-Christmas sort out and have asked the school if we would like any toys. If possible, we would like construction toys like Lego, Meccano, K’nex, Duplo and wooden peg puzzles. Would you please drop off to myself Mrs Williams in Nursery, so I can distribute to the relevant classes. Any queries regarding donations please message me on Williamsj1544@hwbcymru.net
St. Paul’s and Llantrisant Church have asked us to decorate their trees again this year for their Christmas festivals. Would you kindly help your child to create TWO pine cone crafts. Could we have these brought in by Monday 18th November.

The children had lots of fun in the Spooky Disco this week, thank you to all that came and thank you to the PTA for organising.
The Parent Council have mentioned that a few parents are having a pre-Christmas sort out and have asked the school if we would like any toys. If possible, we would like construction toys like Lego, Meccano, K’nex, Duplo and wooden peg puzzles. We would kindly ask parents to be mindful when dropping off and collecting their children in cars. Please do NOT park on the zig zag lines and double yellow lines and do NOT move the cones to park. Also, please do NOT turn your cars around or reverse near the school entrances, please think of the safety of the children.

In school we have a used uniform rail. This can be found inside in the main reception area. All items are 50p – please feel free to come and browse.
Lost Property
Please can we remind you to clearly label all your child’s belongings. This makes it easier to retrieve and return lost items. The lost property box is located in the main hall. The Foundation Phase also have their own lost property boxes within the year group cloakrooms

The Harvest Festival at St. Paul’s Church on Sunday was a great success. Thank you to all the pupils for their colourful harvest creations and thank you to Miss Stewart and the choir for singing their songs.

Thank you all for your cake and money donations for Macmillan Cancer Support. The total amount received for this very worthy cause was £855! Diolch yn fawr iawn!
The Nursery children had their first class photos taken this week, look out for them soon in The Observer.

The children successfully completed their journey from Pontyclun to John O’Groats collectively, they all really enjoyed!
