REMINDER - Important information regarding School Essentials Grant & UPFSM school meal provision - Please read
Tue 05 Nov 2024Following the successful roll-out of UPFSM, all pupils from Reception through to and including Year 6 as well as eligible Nursery pupils are entitled to a free school meal under this scheme.
- Eligible Nursery pupils are those who attend local authority* Nursery provision on a full-time basis (morning and afternoon sessions) in accordance with the Councils admissions policy
Primary school meals are £2.85 a day and payable weekly in advance (only applicable to Nursery pupils not yet eligible for Universal Primary Free School Meals)
Please can we remind all parents/carers, that if their child does not receive Free School Meals even if their child(ren) receive a Universal Primary Free School Meal (currently being rolled out ) and they think they may be entitled, to complete the online application form on the Council’s website (Free School meals - Apply for free school meals | Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council (rctcbc.gov.uk). Only by making a successful application for Free School Meals will they be eligible to automatically receive other support for their child(ren) for example a possible entitlement to a Schools Essential Grant for items such as uniform, kit and stationery.
All schools across Wales will then be entitled to additional funding to provide education and support these children. If eligible families don’t apply for a free school meal through the council it will affect the amount of funding from Welsh Government that the schools receive, meaning the school has less money than it is entitled to in order to provide education and support to your children.
Thank you

ALN Parent Council and Questionnaire
Fri 25 Oct 2024We are looking for parent volunteers to join an ALN Parent Council. The ALN parents/ carers on the council would represent the wider ALN and Universal Provision parents (pupils) of the school, bringing any concerns, queries and ideas that could be discussed, considered or resolved.
Mrs Hancock and I would run the ALN Parent Council and we will meet once or twice a term. If you are interested in supporting this and joining our parent council, please email Mrs Carter (watk-carts1@hwbcymru.net) with your details and your child's name and year group.
We also value your feedback on how our Additional Learning Needs (ALN) provision is working in our school. Your thoughts will help us improve and support our students. Please can you take a few minutes to complete the questionnaire via this google link - Parent ALN Questionnaire.
Kind regards,
Mrs S.Watkin-Carter

Reminders
Thu 10 Oct 2024Please can we remind your child/ren that they shouldn't be bringing any toys and/or similar items in to school unless they have been asked to for show and tell.
Could we also remind all pupils that they must bring a named refillable water bottle to school each day. This can be re filled at the water stations and/or in class in school.
We do not have an exhaustive supply of plastic cups and it does not fit well with our Eco policy of reduce, reuse, recycle.
There is also a large amount of school uniform in the lost property, please can ensure that your child's name is on everything that they bring into school
Thank you for your continued cooperation
