News and Letters
Dear Parents
As part of this term's topic "Dyma fi", we will talking about families and where we live. We would be very grateful if you could provide the following for class activities by Monday 4th November:
- a photograph of your child as a baby
- a family photograph (whoever lives in their house)
- a photograph of your house
Please could you also help your child to make a 3D model of their home to be displayed in school. No bigger than a cereal box please as we would like to create a reception street display of all of the children’s work.
Many thanks

Reading book information
Dear Parent/Guardian,
As you are aware, we have now begun sending reading books home. Your child's allocated reading day is written in the front of the reading record.
Enclosed with your child's reading record is a book to share at home and a set of phonic flashcards. It is beneficial that these are practised daily as your child will be tested regularly on their phonic sounds.
Initially your child may be sent home with a picture book alongside the flashcards. Please support your child with handling the book correctly, turning pages in the correct order, discuss pictures/characters, words beginning with … e.g. “I spy…” retell the story in their own words, etc.
Once we feel your child is acquiring enough sounds, we will provide a book with short sentences. When most sounds are known, we will begin on our ‘Sound Start’ scheme which promotes blending. Alongside these books we will issue ‘tricky’ words to help with sight word recognition.
Thank you for your support.
Please remember to provide a reading folder and send in to school on your child’s reading day.
Many thanks,
Mrs Maidment/Mrs Bishop (R1) and Mrs Carter/Miss Davies (R2)
